Selling Pickles...

Call it Pickles, Achar or Chutney, it is one of the crucial groups of food in Indian cuisine. Pickle is a big group of food which differ with respect to its flavor, usage, textures, and/or ingredients. Pickles are really different than anything western cuisine has to offer. They may act as relish, sauce, dressing, appetizer or condiments. Pickle is considered an essential part of not only Indian meal but also any other South Asian meal. More>>

I wonder if the Indian food we eat here (just had some for dinner tonight) is anything like what you eat, or just an Americanized version! Usually we are given three different relishes -a bright green one, a red one with onions, and a brown one. We love it, anyway!

Jenny > the indian food is much diversified, from north to south and west to east, it just moulds itself into the regional flavours, incrediants and soice mixtures ( we call "masala's", the food I ate while outside of india being served as 'Indian' food is very limited and constrined to typical punjabi(north) indian or Typical South Indian. Let me try and put some focus on 'food' aspect reflecting culture, as like other metro's in Inida, Bangalore has good variety and spread of indian cuisines available....
